Department of Information Technology

Overview

Most probably this department is better known as the 'Computer Department', as well as the department with no staff members!

The 3 staff member working here are all voluntary staff seconded from different admin sections during May 2001. Although Joseph Serekoane, Jackie Victor and Kobus Swartz were, at that stage, inexperienced they had to try and perform a very difficult task to the best of their abilities.

These System Administrators, as they are known, work under extreme pressure. They excelled in their tasks and we can just wish them luck when applying for the long awaited IT posts.

The Network

Medicaom by this time should be familiar with most of Baragwanath's staff members. The system was first introduced and installed at the Maternity Hospital during October 1999. The project was signed off with minor outstanding exceptions, during October 2001.

Currently Bara has approximately 500 computers on the Network. The computer department is also available for first line support towards PERSAL and BAS.

We are looking forward to having a fully resourced department to be able to render a proper and decent service to all users.
