Staff Changes

Congratulations to our new Assistant Director, Ms Zanele Sishuba, who was appointed as the new head of Social Work Department with effect from 1 November 2001. We would like to wish her everything of the best in this new position.

Projects

During 1999 the Department of Social Work initiated a Development Project with the aim to create personnel awareness of the existing poverty our patients are experiencing due to poor socio-economic backgrounds.

The project is also aimed at alleviating non-compliance of patients to treatment, resulting in relapses and frequent hospitalisation. The project is a long-term aid to our patients.

We extend our appreciation and gratitude to all who helped us with donations of groceries, vegetables and/or money. These donations were used to help those patients who were becoming destitute because of ill health. We look forward to your continued support.

Over the period September 2000 to September 2001 this department has seen a total number of 16'576 patients, all inclusive.
